I'm Justin. A software engineer and prior practicing attorney with a passion for creating full-stack web applications with clean, eloquent, and organized code.

My professional interests include developing web applications, the securities markets, and computer science.

In my free time, you will most likely find me playing music, reading science-fiction books, on my computer, or on my snowboard.

Alma Mater

Education

I graduated from App Academy's full-stack software-engineer program in April 2023. The rigiorous curriculum consisted of over 1,000 hours of study in multiple development technologies. This included React, JavaScript, React-Redux, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, SQL, MongoDB, Mongoose, Express, Node, and more.


I completed my Masters of Laws in Securities and Financial Regulation, with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center. During this time I studied the securities and capital markets diving into their systems. This included securities enforcement, market making, electronic trading and reporting, financial advisors, public and private funds, and more.

I earned my Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Miami School of Law. There, I studied our legal system, held multiple legal internships, and focused my study primarily on corporate, securities, and business law.

I graduated from the University of Florida in 2010 with a BA in Business Administration and a minor in Communications Studies. Go Gators!

Counsel at FINRA March 2020 - Jan 2023

  • Represented FINRA and exchange clients, counseled internal business units, and managed a docket of cases involving financial services firms and any potential violations of the federal securities laws and SEC, FINRA, MSRB, and exchange rules.
  • Recommended legal strategies, researched rules and regulations, drafted memoranda, and analyzed processes and procedures.
  • Advised and lead investigations, issued regulatory inquiries, and lead matters through to efficient completion.
  • Prepared and lead on-the-record testimony of registered representatives and financial services employees. Organized efficient electronic communications reviews, strategized for potential litigation, and monitored public litigations. Negotiated and drafted settlement agreements, coordinated with opposing counsel, facilitated the execution of documents, and completed case closure.
  • Examiner at FINRA January 2016 - February 2020

  • Developed and executed risk-based examinations and investigations on financial services firms and registered representatives.
  • Analyzed sales activity, reviewed trade documentation, financial services records, public filings, disclosures, communications, reports, and procedures to identify violations. Served as the regulatory contact for member-firms.
  • U.S. Honors Program Intern at SEC January 2015 - April 2015

  • Assisted in the case development and analysis for public company disclosure, fraud, and reporting cases.
  • Analyzed filings, financial, agreements, and disclosures.
  • Researched deponent rights when asserting the fifth amendment in a SEC deposition. Drafted jury instructions for a federal trial involving the intentional evasion of controls.
